BAPTISM SUNDAY!
What is the significance of baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of self identification with Christ. It is a choice that is made as an individual to show a growing relationship with Christ and His Church. It's an opportunity for your church family to surround you and celebrate the good that God is doing in you and through you. Baptism does not save you, or make you better than anyone else. It is simply an expression and celebration of faith.
Why should I consider getting baptized?
What is the meaning and significance of baptism?
How are we to be baptized?
As per the example of Jesus – by being immersed in water. The word “baptise” comes from the Greek word “baptise” which means “to immerse or dip under water”. Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion under water. Acts 8:38,39; Matthew 3:16
Who should be baptized?
Every person who has made the decision to believe in Christ. When Paul writes to the believers in Rome, he assumes that all of them have been baptized. The one requirement for baptism is belief in Christ! Romans 6; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12.
We believe in baptising children when they are old enough to understand what it means and make a personal declaration of belief. (The age of 12 years old is sometimes used as a good benchmark.)
When are we to be baptised?
Believers in the New Testament were baptised the same day. As soon as a person decides to believe in Christ, he can be, and is encouraged to be baptized. Acts 2:41; Acts 8:35-39
At Corner Church we want as many of the church family as possible to celebrate this decision with you! As soon as we know you have chosen to be baptized we can start planning it at our next United Service.
